The Lakes by yoo – designed by nature

Wildlife and water residents have long supported The Lakes by yoo because the clear waters and woodlands in this 650-acre estate make their dwellings naturally untouched.

Families can watch over one of six vast lakes from their wraparound balconies as otters, swans and deer arise and live out their lives in this tranquil country retreat in the Cotswolds.

The Lakes by yoo – built in partnership with the Raven Group – is a haven where children can cycle in a safe, natural environment and kayak in the crystal waters near their homes. Parents, too, enjoy quiet respite away from their busy city lives.

The Lakes by yoo was the vision of joint founder John Hitchcox and head architect Mark Davison who describes the eco-friendly wood and glass homes as having “dropped out of the sky and blended seamlessly into their natural surroundings”.

And even though nature rules at The Lakes, these comfortable holiday residences have interior design and furnishings luxuriously created by yoo’s award-winning designers.

Kelly Hoppen for yoo, Jade Jagger for yoo and the yoo design studio have sought inspiration from a region of sheer beauty, close to the historic village of Southrop. The building design concept of The Lakes by yoo also sews a modern thread into the fabric of the ancient Cotswold landscape.

But against such dramatic natural surroundings, yoo has kept an element of surprise – to apply pure simplicity to both the exterior architecture and interior furnishings of these idyllic waterside homes.

The Lakes is the editor’s choice

Ø  House and Garden described The Lakes by yoo as “the most striking modernist homes in the Cotswolds”

Ø  The Times dubbed the 650-acre private country retreat as one of the best waterside developments in Europe offering the latest in eco-design and luxury.

Ø  Thyme is a food school newly opened in the nearby village of Southrop. Culinary director Gina Caridia recently visited The Lakes to give a cooking demonstration.
